FAQ

Q. I'm thinking about homeschooling, how can I find out more?

A. Come to park day and get to know some veteran homeschoolers.  Find out more on our homeschooling resources page.

Q. How do I join the group?

A. If you are just interested in doing some park hopping, formal membership is not required.  If you want to join our email list, just follow the steps on our Email List page.

Q. How are Santa Clara County parks selected?

A. We use a very traditional and sacred method for park day selection: Paper, Rock, Scissors.  Ok, we're not actually that haphazard.  We usually have one person gracious enough to slog through the member's park suggestions and come up with a variety of parks.

Q. What benefits are there to joining the email list

A. Our low volume list is useful for last minute park changes and activity announcements.

Q. What should I bring to the park?

A. Nothing really, but if you'd like, it's helpful to bring a lawn chair, and something to eat and drink for your family.  For parks with water, you might want to bring bathing suits, change of clothes and water toys.

Q. Is there any age limit?

A. There is no age limit, but in general, the group is attended by homeschooled children between the ages of 4 and 18.

Q. What happens in the case of bad weather?

A. We never ever cancel park day.  It's not that we are that die hard, it's just that we have no other suitable place to meet.  So, our official policy is, on any given day, each family can decide if they want to brave the cold, wind and rain.  If they opt not to go, then of course, they can do something on their own or, reach other individuals in the group to do something together.

Q. How can I volunteer?

A. Glad you asked.  We do need volunteers from time to time to help facilitate the email list, website and answer any questions for new and potential homeschoolers.
